Missional Focus for Fall Family Festival 2019
September 26, 2019
Sunday, Oct 20 4- 6 p.m – by Susan Payne
Hundreds of guests will join Deermeadows on Sunday, October 20, for Fall Family Festival, one of the church’s largest outreach events of the year. It is exciting to invite the surrounding community to campus each year to enjoy fun and fellowship with the Deermeadows family.
Some may wonder why it is earlier in the month than it has been in the past. There’s a reason…and it is because Deermeadows is on mission.
Our community of faith aims to serve not only the nations, but our very own neighborhood as well. The church is blessed to have a large Indian population in the immediate surrounding area, and many Indian families are well-connected to Deermeadows through its Weekday Preschool and English-as-a-Second-Language ministries. Many of our neighbors from India are Hindu. Sunday, Oct 27, is a Hindu holiday known as Diwalli, a festival of lights involving celebrations on the part of many Indian families. Had we scheduled Fall Family Festival on that date, many of our Hindu friends would be unable to attend an outreach event designed in part for their participation.
Deermeadows has intentionally chosen to hold our Fall Family Festival on Sunday, Oct 20, with a missional mindset to maximize our impact on and reach into our community. We want to welcome our neighbors onto campus and let them experience the love of Christ through each of you. So please plan on coming, Sunday, Oct 20, 4-6 p.m., and show your care and love for friends from all around as we enjoy the food and fun together! And don’t forget to invite someone to join you!
